Why I Use Rank Math WordPress SEO To Help Boofkay Get Found
Years ago, when I first started learning about websites, I eventually reached the part everybody reaches.
How do you actually get somebody to find the thing?
You can build a website.
You can write an article.
You can create a sales page.
But then you start learning about Google and SEO and suddenly there are approximately 47,000 other things you’re apparently supposed to know.
Focus keywords.
Titles.
Meta descriptions.
Schema.
Snippets.
Image sizes.
Alt text.
Internal links.
External links.
Keyword density.
Did you put the keyword in the title?
Did you put it in the image alt text?
Did you put it in the description?
Did you use it enough?
Did you use it too much?
Did you make it sound natural?
At some point you’re staring at an article wondering whether you’re writing for a human being or preparing a technical report for Google.
It can get overwhelming very quickly.
That’s where Rank Math started making sense to me.
SEO Has A Lot Of Details
To somebody who works in SEO every day, putting a focus keyword in an image alt description might be elementary.
To your average local business owner?
Not necessarily.
Most people running a plumbing company, surf shop, moving company or photography business aren’t sitting around studying schema markup.
They’re running their businesses.
That’s why I like tools that take something complicated and turn it into a checklist.
Rank Math does that.
Instead of expecting me to remember every little technical detail, it sits there inside WordPress and tells me what I’ve done and what I haven’t.
Did I use the focus keyword?
Check.
Is it in the title?
Check.
Is it in the meta description?
Check.
Did I use it in the image information?
Check.
Did I structure the article correctly?
Check.
Suddenly SEO feels a lot less mysterious.
Darrel Wilson Made The Decision Easy
Years later, when I made the move to WordPress, I came across Rank Math again.
Darrel Wilson recommended it.
That was pretty much the end of my research.
I had already absorbed enough SEO information over the years to understand what Rank
Math was trying to help me accomplish.
And if it was good enough for Darrel Wilson, it was good enough for me.
So I installed it.
I Like The Checklist
The thing I like most about Rank Math isn’t some giant technical feature.
It’s the checklist.
Rank Math gives your page or article a score out of 100 and shows you areas that could be improved.
That works very well with the way my brain works.
I don’t need to become an SEO expert.
I need to know:
What am I missing?
Then I can decide whether it matters and fix it.
As I create more articles, I’m also starting to think about those things before Rank Math even tells me.
That’s where the tool becomes really useful.
You start learning the framework.
The Framework Starts Changing How You Write
At first, I might write an article and then go back through Rank Math trying to fix everything.
Now I’m starting to think about SEO while I build the article.
If the focus keyword is something like:
Jupiter Florida photographer
I already know that phrase needs to fit naturally into the article.
It probably belongs in the title.
It should appear in the description.
It can appear in image information where it actually makes sense.
The important part is making all of that happen without turning the article into mashed potatoes.
Nobody wants to read:
Looking for a Jupiter Florida photographer? Our Jupiter Florida photographer provides Jupiter Florida photographer services for anyone searching for a Jupiter Florida photographer.
Technically, I suppose Google now knows what we’re talking about.
Unfortunately, every human being left the page three sentences ago.
The challenge is working the keyword into the article while still sounding like a person.
That gets easier with practice.
I Use Rank Math With ChatGPT
Rank Math and ChatGPT have become part of the same process for me.
I’ll work through the article and figure out what I actually want to say.
Then we’ll decide on a focus keyword.
From there, we can structure things properly.
Title.
SEO title.
Meta description.
Slug.
Image title.
Alt text.
Description.
Internal links.
Article structure.
Then Rank Math becomes the final checklist.
It shows me where we may have missed something.
I don’t want Rank Math writing the article for me.
I want Rank Math making sure the article I wrote is structured properly enough to have a better chance of being discovered.
There’s a big difference.
I Haven't Hit 100 Yet
Rank Math scores your work out of 100.
I have yet to hit 100.
And I’m okay with that.
A lot of what I’m building right now is still in the early stages.
For the Jupiter Edition, for example, I’m getting the business articles presentation-ready first.
When a business commits, then we can go back and do the final optimization.
That’s when I’ll start chasing the 100.
Right now I would rather have an interesting article sitting at 85 or 90 than destroy it trying to make a little green number happy.
The score is a guide.
It isn’t the article.
Subscriptions Still Confuse Me
One thing I still find confusing isn’t necessarily Rank Math itself.
It’s the entire subscription universe around building a website.
I have Elementor.
Rank Math.
Blocksy.
Imagify.
And every company has a free version.
A Pro version.
Another level above Pro.
A service that overlaps slightly with another service.
A feature included over here that you can also buy over there.
Even after asking ChatGPT to help me sort through everything, I still sometimes wonder:
Am I paying for something I already have somewhere else?
Am I missing something I actually need?
Do I need this level or that level?
Then AI comes along and changes the way people search for information in the first place.
So now there’s another question.
Am I even doing SEO the right way anymore?
I don’t completely know.
I don’t think anybody completely knows where all of this is going.
I'm Playing The Long Game
It’s still too early for me to point at Boofkay.com and say Rank Math caused an article to rank where it ranks.
SEO takes time.
The site is growing.
The articles are growing.
I’m learning while I’m building.
So I’m not going to pretend I have some dramatic before-and-after case study yet.
What I can say is that I feel like I’m building the articles correctly.
I’m giving them structure.
I’m checking the technical boxes.
I’m giving Google more information about what each page is actually about.
And then I’m letting time do its thing.
That’s the long game.
The Same Lesson Keeps Showing Up
The more I build Boofkay, the more I notice the same lesson appearing everywhere.
Learn the framework.
A Facebook business page has a framework.
An Elementor container has a framework.
A YouTube video has a framework.
WordPress has a framework.
SEO has a framework.
Once you understand the framework, you can stop fighting it.
Then you can be creative inside it.
That’s what Rank Math gives me.
It gives me a simple framework for the technical side of creating an article.
Then I can concentrate on making the article interesting.
Is Rank Math Pro Worth It?
I use the paid version.
For me, yes.
Do I use every feature I’m paying for?
Probably not.
I didn’t use every feature in Elementor when I first started either.
The same goes for Presto Player.
Sometimes I buy into a tool because I can see where I’m going, even if I’m not there yet.
As I learn more about SEO, I suspect I’ll grow into more of what Rank Math offers.
Right now, I mostly appreciate that it keeps the technical part organized.
That alone has value to me.
Would I Use Rank Math WordPress SEO Again?
Yes.
Even though it’s too early for me to judge the results by rankings alone, I would still choose it again today.
It’s straightforward.
It’s built into WordPress.
It gives me a checklist.
It helps me understand what I’m missing.
And the more I use it, the more naturally I start thinking about the structure of an article before I even look at the score.
Rank Math doesn’t make the article interesting.
That’s still my job.
It gives me the framework.
Then I get to play inside it.
And if it’s good enough for Darrel Wilson, it’s good enough for me.
